David Copperfield is a well-known illusionist and magician. He was born David Seth Kotkin on September 16, 1956 in Metuchen, New Jersey. He began practicing magic at a young age and made his first professional performance at the age of 12. He later changed his name to David Copperfield as a tribute to the Charles Dickens novel.
Copperfield has had a successful career in magic, performing in Las Vegas and on television specials. He has also been involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including founding the International Magic Experience, a museum and performance venue in Las Vegas. - The Vanishing of the Great Wall of China: Copperfield made a replica of the Great Wall of China disappear in front of a live audience in 1986.
- The Walk Through the Great Wall: Copperfield walked through the Great Wall of China in a live broadcast in 1994, he was the first person to walk through the wall.
- The Death Saw: Copperfield performed the famous “Death Saw” illusion, where he was sawed in half by an assistant in front of a live audience.
- The levitation of an audience member: Copperfield performed levitation of an audience member, it’s one of his most popular illusions and he still performs it.
